6 reasons that Porsche prefer Michelin tyres

As a result, I just scooped this up because of the great image. As a result, the excellent race tyres. So, those were fitted to the eventual winner’s car.

The winning car was fitted with the famous Michelin race tyres.

endurance racing, Porsche Team has returned to its former winning ways 
at Le Mans. Nico Hülkenberg (DE), Earl Bamber (NZ) and Nick Tandy (GB) 
steered their N°19 Michelin-equipped 919 Hybrid to an emphatic victory, 
while the N°17 sister car made it a one-two success for the German make.
 The result breaks Audi’s recent sequence of five wins but the 
Ingolstadt firm was part of the podium celebrations thanks to third 
place. There were class wins for Corvette/Michelin (LM GTE Pro), 
Ferrari/Michelin (Am) and KCMG (LM P2)".

Michelin tyres have made massive inroads into all kinds of motorsport in recent years. This includes motorcycle racing and everything else barring Formula 1. There are rumours that Michelin is considering making a bid for the Formula One tyre franchise.

This came after a statement

from one of the top motorsport guys. He said though that changes would have to be made to the tyre compounds and the teams would have the freedom to choose their own tyres depending of the conditions of the particular circuit, before a bid could be made?
