Most, brands of  tyres, were originally made to provide the vehicle with traction. Of course, that could go anywhere. They were developed to give the car driver excellent durability. Whilst also giving good wear and traction in any weather that the vehicle could come up across, including heavy snow falls.
Pirelli tyres, wear technically designed with the help of racing tyres and were derived from a “cut-chip and tear-resistant tread compound”. Naturally, this would give the tyres tread exceptional grip and wear resistance when driving on roads that would normally tear tyres to shreds. Consequently, such as gravel roads.

Michelin-F1 Interest

This is going to be an interesting time ahead for the tyre world. Michelin could be interested in bidding for the right to supply F1 tyres in the near future?

This would be if the FIA looked at using tyres. Hence, with a different size. So, say, from 13-inch wheels to 18-inch wheels, giving the teams a choice of tyre compounds.

Hence, to use at their own discretion at the different race venues. This would add a whole list of new skills. especially for the drivers and ground teams to take into consideration on race day.

Winning a race.

Thus, we would have to take into consideration the correct choice of tread and compound. Naturally, on that particular day, add more excitement to the proceedings.

Michelin Tyres: Pioneering Excellence in F1 Racing Today

We’re delving into the world of Michelin tyres and how they’re consistently pushing the boundaries to enhance F1 racing performance. Michelin, the French tyre giant, has a long-standing history of dedication and innovation in the world of motorsport.

 A Legacy of Excellence Michelin

is a name synonymous with quality and performance in the tyre industry. When it comes to F1 racing, they’ve been a formidable force for years, striving to deliver the best possible tyre solutions for the world’s fastest cars.

The Pursuit of Performance In the high-octane world of Formula 1,

Performance is everything. Michelin understands this like no one else. They work hand in hand with F1 teams to develop tyres that offer: Grip and Control:

Michelin tyres provide unrivalled grip, enabling F1 drivers to take on hairpin turns and straightaways with confidence. It’s all about maximising traction and control on the racetrack.

 Durability: F1 tyres

Must withstand immense forces and high-speed racing conditions. Michelin tyres are engineered to endure the rigours of the track, ensuring they last the distance of an intense race. Safety: Safety is paramount, and Michelin takes it seriously. Their tyre technology is designed to keep F1 drivers safe even in the most challenging racing scenarios.

 Innovation at Its Core Michelin doesn’t rest on its laurels;

They’re constantly at the forefront of innovation: Sustainable Solutions: Just like a fine French wine, Michelin tyres get better with time. They’re committed to sustainability and are developing eco-friendly tyre solutions to reduce their environmental impact.

Advanced Materials:

Michelin is like a laboratory for tyre technology. They’re always experimenting with new materials and tyre designs to enhance performance. Data-Driven Precision: In the digital age, data is king. Michelin employs cutting-edge technology to collect and analyse data, fine-tuning their tyres for optimal performance.

Michelin tyres, though of French origin

play a vital role in the world of F1 racing. Their tyre solutions are a testament to precision engineering, safety, and constant innovation. So, next time you’re watching a thrilling F1 race, remember that Michelin is behind the scenes, ensuring those tyres deliver the performance needed for victory.

According to  Michelin motorsport director Pascal Couasnon.

For this reason, the French tyre giants would be interested in bidding for an F1 tyre supplier if there was to be a change in the size of the F1 tyres and also a change in the tyre compound strategy.

This is also the aim of the current tyre supplier, Pirelli. Who have been part of car testing on 18-inch tyres. Martin Brundle completed a few demo laps in a GP2 test car equipped with 18″ tyres around Monaco the other Friday.

Michelin-F1 Interest

There has also been much speculation about the tyre companies wanting to use a variety of compounds. These would be used at the discretion of the F1 teams and drivers during a race. This could give the race even more bite. The teams would choose their own tyres and compounds, meaning that the cars could and would be racing on different tyres.

This would mean that the team making the best choices would have a better chance of competing for the winning podium, making racing more interesting and exact. If these rules came in, then Michelin F1 interest could be on the cards,

This picture of a fling rally is just awesome?

It also reinforces my point about tyre companies involvement in motorsport . Especially from the research and development angle.

The advertising factor also comes into play. Tghus, with the famous yellow and red Pirelli logo. As expected, clearly to be seen on the excellent photo shot from Pirelli Motorsport.

Pirelli motorsport

are one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers. Hence, in the field of supplying their tyres to car racing events,.
The giant Italian tyre. For this reason, the  company manufactures tyres for race events as diverse as “vintage car rallying “and their involvement in “F1” racing.

Like most tyre companies. Pirelli motorsport helps them try out new products and materials. Of course, that is used in making a tyre.

We have all heard about the controversy involving the different tyre compounds in the past two years with F1 cars. This type of thing is just learning curbs and Pirelli have now sorted their problems out.

Pirelli motorsport began involvement-Pirelli Motorsport Info

in rallying way back in 1973. From then to 2010, Pirelli motorsport tyres have recorded no fewer than 25 rally championship wins.

They then became tyre suppliers to the WRC academy in 2011 and 2012, giving the younger drivers the experience of driving on their 8 different types of rally tyres.

Pirelli Motorsport became the official tyre supplier to the WRC (World Rally Championships) between 2008 and 2010. This gave Pirelli maximum publicity and exposure all around the world.

These range from the “RX,”

which is a tyre for dry or damp asphalt, to the “Scorpion,” which is constructed in the form of an Asymmetric and directional pattern design based on Pirelli’s many years of experience in rallies on gravel roads.

Many of us. including myself, could not foresee the massive rise in the growth of the SUV and Crossover vehicle market. I first saw some of these vehicles. Especially when I was attending a tyre testing day in Austria. The tyre dealers that were invited were all Vredestein (now Apollo Vredestein) stockists.

Some of these vehicles are very powerful. Therefore, it sort of went against the trend of greener cars. In general, cars were getting smaller.Hence, until the upsurge of the SUV and, later, the smaller Crossovers

Pirelli Scorpion Verde Tyres

This meant that tyres also had to change.

These cars included Porsche’s and the VW Tiguan. The BMW X5 and X3, the Audi Q5. Not forgetting the Range Rover Evoque. These were all high-performance cars, and they needed tyres to go with them.

These cars also had to be more environmentally friendly. The tyres became larger in wheel size, some as large as 22 and 23-inch alloy’s. They also had to be quieter with good handling qualities, as well as handle the power of some of these vehicles.

Pirelli Scorpion Verde Tyres

Many tyre companies came up with their own designs, including the introduction of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyre. These are truly eco-friendly SUV tyres.

For this reason, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres offer very good rolling resistance. As expected, it is one of the top tyre products to offer this. A better rolling resistance gives the vehicle better fuel economy and, therefore, greener credentials.

Pirelli claims that these tyres are much lighter in weight

because they use fewer materials and will last longer than some of their counterparts. VW has tested the new Scorpion Verde, and the VW Group was the first automaker to mount the Verde on its Volkswagen Touareg SUV.

Pirelli now makes an all-season version of this tyre for SUV owners who may require more traction in the winter months.

Pirelli Cinturato All Season tyre- is to be launched with a ‘seal inside’ – Tyrepress.com

Pirelli Cinturato All Season tyre

Cinturato All-Season designed for markets like the UK Pirelli has launched a new all-season tyre aimed at increasing premium seasonal tyre sales amongst daily drivers living in markets with tempera…

Pirelli is just one of the major tyre companies to aim for the top spot. I do like the idea of a winter tyre that also has the potential to have a puncture protection system inside. The Pirelli Cinturato all-season tyres are now available.

www.pellontyres.co.uk

Pirelli Cinturato All Season tyre launch took place in Sicily

The middle ground appears to have been chosen by Pirelli tyres. particularly between winter and summer tyres. Thus, they added the Pirelli Cinturato All-Season Tyre, a new “all-weather tyre,” to their line-up.
Launched in late January 2015, the tyre, as anticipated, is off the coast of Italy, on the vacation island of Sicily.

This was done to represent the various climates. to demonstrate the tyre’s effectiveness in balancing Mt. Etna’s snow-covered peaks. The area that is warmer is closer to the coast.

This tyre was created for the first time by Pirelli. Its goal will be to boost sales of premium seasonal tyres.
Due to this, daily drivers, particularly those who reside in urban regions and markets with mild European climates,

During the winter, the southern regions of Europe typically remain in the middle because drivers frequently make unusual trips into the mountains, where there is some snow and colder temperatures.

The “three peaks mountain snowflake” insignia on the tyre designates it as a suitable winter tyre. It comes in 15-, 16-, and 17-inch sizes.

Pirelli Cinturato All Season tyre

A snowflake in the shape of a mountain indicates that the tyre is suitable for use in areas where winter tyres are required.

As a result, by law, at specific times of the year Gregorio Borgo, Pirelli’s general manager, stated that the new tyre would target a significant portion of the automobile tyre market.

In areas with mild winters, the percentage is actually around 74%. Obviously, with hotter summers, the Pirelli Cinturato Any Season tyre will perform well in all conditions, with the exception of the harshest winters and summers.

The winters, in my perspective, are altering. I’m fortunate to own a vacation property in the southwest of France.

As a result, the winters are typically relatively mild.

However, we occasionally see Russian winds that may cause the temperature to drop as low as -17 °C. Last winter, we also experienced 10 inches of snow; fortunately, I had a set of winter tyres installed.

But I believe it rose to 15 degrees Celsius again after a few days. These Pirelli tyres would undoubtedly be ideal for this weather.

Pirelli Cinturato All Season can also be puncture protected.

One of the major benefits for me is this. because the new self-seal technology enables the sale of this new tyre Many tyre businesses are growing. “Seal within” is the name of Pirelli’s variation.
Thus, these tyres are given.
As a result, the edge adds yet another layer of safety features to the tyre. The self-seal delivers on its promise. because a screw could puncture the tyre

The space or hole will be sealed as a result. The driver and the car will be able to continue driving.

On a miserable, cold day, this is quite helpful. If your hands may freeze off while changing a wheel due to a puncture, this, in my opinion, would sell a tyre—not just the all-season part, but the entire package, including the self-seal.

Pirelli Cinturato All Season tyre

In the UK, especially in the south, where the winters are warmer, this might be a good offering.

According to statistics, the winter tyre market in the UK is less than 2%, but if sales in Halifax, Yorkshire, UK, are any indication, I believe that number to be much higher and that the market is expanding quickly.

Pirelli Rally tyres

Pirelli Rally tyres date back to 1973

Of course, there is no doubt about it ! That Pirelli are very closely linked to the beginning of motorsport. As we know it today. So, the Italian’s first ever victory. Came in the then prestigious Peking to Paris race in 1907.

Even after such an early start to the development of tyres. Pirelli started to develop the knowledge to develop different compounds and tread patterns. Hence, that would affect the performance of their tyres in racing events. For example different tyres for different weather conditions and road surfaces.

Pirelli rally tyres in WRC  1973

Consequently, Pirelli were involved in the World Rally Championships (WRC) way back at the start in 1973. So, many of the cars that have rallied on these famous tyres. Have won no fewer than 25 championship races.

Significantly, at one point, they became the official tyre suppliers to the WRC series. Moreover, they are now emulating in Formula 1 racing. In my opinion, the rally tyres are the most difficult to develop. Due to their demanding challenges,.

Having to endure not only the weather ! But massive differences in the type of terrain. Thus, that the tyres operate on. The Pirelli rally tyres have to be good in different weather conditions. Including, snow and ice to dust dry mountainous conditions. Consequently, that you can get in some South American rallies, such as in Argentina.

Pirelli Rally tyres are now active in the European Rally Championships

Bringing things back up to date.  Pirelli have had a great start to the 2014 rally season. So, taking the first three places in the Janner rally in Austria. Of course, in the first round of the European championships. Ford Fiesta R5’s took first and third place, with the two Fords being split by the Peugeot 207 super 2000 driven by Robert Consani.

The cars were driving on hard-packed snow and ice and were fitted with Pirelli rally 135/85×15 SA15 studs that contained 2 mm studs that were designed for the 15-inch wheels.

The Pirelli rally tyres performed to the best of their abilities

Proving decisive to the results, the performance on the ice and snow was second to none.
I always bring up the fact that I was in my seventies.  I was one of the guys that was part of the Goodyear tyre rally Back-Up Team and went to many of the local and British championships. In those days, Pirelli were big rivals. But took place in the bigger events and consequently, I never came across them very often.

I have always loved to watch rallying and the various tyre companies that now support the sport have given me a renewed interest, I can now watch the Motoring channel on TV without getting freezing cold, but I try to attend some events in the summer and will be attending some rally-cross events courtesy of Yokohama tyres.

Like most of the other major tyre companies, Pirelli Tyres is striving to compete in the drive to produce a greener and more fuel-efficient tyre.

The new tyre from Pirelli is the Scorpion Verde, the Verde obviously meaning “green” in English.
The new tyre is an all-season tyre” and will be aimed at the ever-growing SUV and crossover vehicle market. Because the manufacture of the compounds will include a product by the name of Highly Aromatic Oil Free, or “HAOF” for short, they will use 8% less carbon-based oil materials and therefore be safer to the environment, hence the term Verde.

The new Pirelli tyres will increase the level of tyre comfort. Pirelli SUV and Crossover tyres

and quietness to a new level, while also providing the driver with a higher mileage and reducing their driving costs.

pirelli tyres
Pirelli SUV and Crossover tyres

Drivers of SUVs and crossover vehicles are not known to buy these types of cars to save money on fuel consumption but for other reasons, which may include a higher driving position, a greater sense of safety, and better vision when driving.

These are the reasons that my wife gave when buying her new Mitsubishi Outlander. What the fuel consumption of the car did made little difference to her choice.

We do, however, have a significant proportion of our customers now driving these vehicles, and when the price of fuel was sky high, they did look at things to help them with their consumption. I noticed that they were looking more and more at the information on the new tyre labelling system.
We also noticed that the cars were coming out on summer tyres. Pirelli SUV and Crossover tyres

and our customers in Halifax were getting concerned about the winter. Would this type of tyre be good enough for the winter? The answer came when we had our first bad winter in many years, and these vehicles were hopeless in any type of snowy or icy condition.
This is probably one of the reasons that Pirelli SUV and Crossover Tyres used their new product as an “all-season tyre” I am not sure that an all-season tyre would be good enough in the hilly Halifax area but would be ideal for use in the flatter and milder regions of the UK.

The Pirelli Tyres Scorpion Verde summer pattern

This tyre comes out in a normal type of summer tread pattern and has a fuel rating of C and a wet grip rating of B, which is up there with the rest of them. The tyre is now approved for use on some VW models and complies with the 2012 EU Regulation on the reduction of noise, resulting in improved driving comfort.

The SCORPION VERDE™ has been created by Pirelli to take full advantage of their most modern materials, tyre structures, and newly developed tread patterns in order to guarantee savings in respect for our environment, driver comfort, and safety on all road surfaces.
The tyres are available in sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches, which covers most SUV and crossover tyre fitments.

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season

SCORPION VERDE™ ALL SEASON is a Pirelli Green Performance Crossover & SUV tyre made for drivers who look for a higher mileage and a small amount of off-road performance without having to purchase winter tyres, without giving up comfort and safety on all road surfaces and in every condition.

Both of these tyres are well worth a try when you have to buy a new set of tyres for your SUV or crossover vehicle.
Pellon Tyre and Auto-centre offer car and van servicing and repairs to all makes of vehicles.

Following in the footsteps of other large tyre companies. Then Pirelli have developed an all-season tyre that can be used on high performance vehicles. Pirelli offer the public a tyre that covers winter and summer climate changes.

I personally like this idea. Especially for drivers who live in hilly and mountainous regions of the world. For this reason then these tyres benefit the driver when changing from a nice sunny day to a torrential   downpour. Also these tyres will cover a wide range of temperatures. Consequently , helping the driver on a sudden unexpected frosty morning.

Pirelli Cinturato All-Season Tyre
Pirelli Cinturato All-Season Tyre

In common with many other all-weather tyres,

the new Pirelli tyres have a much lower noise levels say compared with similar products of yesteryear. Also this tyre could be a competitor for the Michelin CrossClimate range of tyres.

An added bonus on the Pirelli all-season tyres is the use of seal inside technology. Hence, this gives the tyres protection against nails and screws penetrating the tyre. Objects of 4 mm long can penetrate the tread without the tyre deflating. Although this tyre is not a runflat, it certainly gives some protection from picked up sharp objects in the road.

Finally the new tyre is equipped

with tread blocks that will stand up to a certain amount of snowfall. This is where I slightly disagree. Therefore I am not sure that this is as good as a traditional winter tyre such as Falken Winter tyres. My gut feeling is that if you live in a snowfall area or hilly area. When snow can become a problem, then buy genuine winter tyres.
